About the Textile Industry:

The Indian textile industry is one of the largest in the world and has an overwhelming presence in the economic life of the country. The present size of the textile & apparel industry is estimated at US Dollars 140 billion. It contributes nearly 5% of India’s GDP. Textile exports make up to nearly 12% of the overall export earnings of the country in 2019-20. India is the 6th largest exporter of Textiles & Apparel in the world. The organized mill sector is the second largest in the world. The industry provides direct employment to 35 million people in the country.

Program Objectives:

The objective of the B.Tech program is to impart technical and managerial skills required to cater to the needs of Indian textile mills. The program deals with various aspects of textile manufacturing starting from textile fibres, yarn and fabric manufacturing, textile processing, testing and quality control. The program also gives lot of focus on emerging technologies like technical textiles. Besides technology related inputs, the program will also impart supervisory skills required to manage complete value chain of the textile industry.
